Random acts of kindness are good practice for building human compassion. When you see the world falling apart at our own hands, it can be very disheartening. But, even in the ruble ever building from our own self distruction, there can be joy in the selfless things we do for others.
My entries are usually fiction, or the aftermath of a profound thought i felt the need to share. However, i want to pass on a suggestion, to anyone who feels like they can't make a difference in the life of a stranger, or who doesnt have the time or money, or who doesnt want to put in the effort.
Here is my suggestion: Take many tiny peices of paper, and write on them things like "someone loves you" "you are beautiful" "have a great day", or something of the like. Then, tape them to the doors of your neighbors, anonymously.
You will never see them smile, but the happiness a few kind words could bring that person, may mean a lot to someone someday.

How much does your happiness cost?
Slaving day and night, working jobs you hate, for what? To buy the pretty car, the big house, the newest gadget, or game. Ask anyone what they want in life, and a part of their answer will be happiness. Some say happiness is gained by the success of a person's individual life goals; some say it is love. No one knows what qualifies as happiness, and no one knows the equation to find it. But to spend your days and nights, working jobs you hate, saving and spending money, collecting and hoarding worthless possessions...it seems like a waste of life. If a plasma screen TV, or the latest video game is all you need to be happy, so be it. But, i bet that isn't so. Greed will never equal happiness, so stop trying to make it so.
